Milestones

Milestones represent important achievements that have been made and can apply to many areas. To some people, a milestone of life may consist of graduating school, getting married, or starting a career while a milestone of the school year may simply mean making it through the first quarter. Milestones in Technology are important factors that need to be explored. It is a way to make connections to items we take for granted everyday.

Once students complete the research, they will make a presentation using a program of their choice (PowerPoint, Prezi, Movie Maker or a poster) of their findings and deliver it to the class. If possible, students are encouraged to bring in examples as visual aides. This is a great project that helps students build many valuable skills such as; presenting, public speaking, computer applications, research, and creating a bibliography.  If you would like to try Prezi- push the button!

Purpose- To explore the changes and achievements that have been made in Technology throughout time. Students have the opportunity to chose a topic (usually an invention) of their choice and research how this has changed. Below is a list of just a few examples: Ball point pen, Velcro, X-rays, the combustible engine, weapons, hydroponics, contact lenses, cell phones, I-pods, video games and just about anything else that can be thought up!

After everyone completed their presentations, we made a time line of all the technological milestones. These are all 6 of my classes- spanning from around 3000 b.c. to present day!
